Size and movement balance
Smedium sits squarely between our small and medium soft locs: fine enough to fall and part like natural hair, but wide enough that the install stays light on the scalp. That balance gives movement along the length of the locs while avoiding the chunky face-framing that some clients find uncomfortable with a medium set.
Choosing Smedium is a trade-off in proportions. It reduces the visual bulk around the hairline compared with medium locs, yet is fuller than a small set, so you get shape and presence without excessive weight. If medium felt too chunky against your face, Smedium is the correction many clients prefer.
Scalp comfort and weight trade-offs
Because Smedium locs are constructed at a size meant to distribute weight more evenly, the install is designed to feel lighter across the scalp. That lighter feel matters for clients who commute on Loop 410, manage busy family schedules, or wear protective styles while working around the Lackland AFB area.
Comfort varies by individual hair density and sensitivity, so Smedium can be a way to reduce tension while keeping noticeable loc definition. The finer diameter allows more natural parting and movement, which can lower constant pressure points when styling or wearing the hair back during daily activities.
Styling and day-to-day care
Because Smedium locs fall and part more like hair, they offer straightforward everyday styling: natural parting, face-framing, and simple updos without the bulk of a medium set. In San Antonio’s hot, humid summers, that lighter feel can make daily wear more comfortable and easier to manage when running errands or commuting.
Appointments for Smedium at our southwest San Antonio location are planned with local rhythms in mind — school drop-offs, 9–5 commutes, and military schedules.
