A full install typically takes 4 to 8 hours depending on hair length, density, desired thickness, and stylist speed. We schedule accordingly and recommend bringing snacks and allowing a comfortable time block. Consult during booking for a personalized timeframe.

We recommend at least three to four inches of natural hair for secure attachment, though longer lengths allow fuller results. Extensions can be added for length or volume. Book a consultation to assess your hair and choose the best length and fullness for your desired look.

Maintain by gently washing every two to three weeks with sulfate-free shampoo, moisturizing the scalp and locs with lightweight oils, and sleeping on a satin bonnet. Avoid heavy products and excessive manipulation to reduce frizz and prolong neatness.

You can exercise; secure your locs and rinse sweat after workouts to prevent buildup. Swimming is possible but chlorine and saltwater can dry extensions, so wet hair with clean water first and apply a protective conditioner. Rinse and moisturize thoroughly afterward.

With proper care, Butterfly Locs can look fresh for six to ten weeks. Individual results depend on hair growth rate, activity level, and maintenance routine. We offer touch-up appointments to refresh roots and tidy loose strands as needed.

When installed and maintained correctly, Butterfly Locs protect natural hair by reducing daily manipulation. Using too-tight installs, heavy extensions, or neglecting care can cause tension and breakage. Our stylists tailor size and tension to your hair type and educate on safe maintenance.
